Terms of service
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Important: by using HopLife, you agree to these binding terms.
1. Absolute right to terminate
Hoptec reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to terminate, suspend, or limit access to any user account or any part of the service at any time, for any reason or for no reason, without prior notice, justification, or liability.
2. Service "as is" and no warranties
HopLife is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Hoptec makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the service. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free or that data will never be lost or corrupted.
3. Absolute limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Swiss law, Hoptec shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from:
- Data loss or errors: any loss of family data, events, budgets, or tasks.
- Missed obligations: any missed appointments, events, or deadlines resulting from service use or failure.
- Financial inaccuracies: any errors in budget tracking, borrowed item records, or financial summaries.
- Technical failures: any downtime or technical malfunction of the platform.
4. User responsibility for data backups
While Hoptec provides a data export feature, users are solely responsible for backing up their own data. Hoptec is not responsible for ensuring the permanence or safety of your records. Failure to regularly export and secure your data is at your own risk.
5. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Hoptec GmbH harmless from any claims, losses, or demands (including legal fees) made by any third party due to or arising out of your use of the service or your violation of these terms.
6. Paid plans and payments
HopLife has a free plan and paid plans (Basic and Premium), billed monthly or yearly. Prices are shown before you buy and exclude VAT; applicable taxes are calculated and added at checkout.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in HopLife under Subscription, or through the link in your Paddle receipt. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, after which your account moves to the Free plan.
When you upgrade or downgrade, the amount charged or credited is shown before you confirm the change.
If the price of your plan changes, we will tell you before the new price applies. It takes effect from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
Refunds are covered by our refund policy, which does not limit any rights you have under the law where you live.
7. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these terms is Zurich, Switzerland.
